The faculty, staff, School Board, and PTO are all dedicated to supporting the School in providing each student with a quality academic curriculum, in an environment that supports creativity and positive self esteem.<br> Ari Guiragos Minassian Armenian School is located in Santa Ana, California, next to the Forty Martyrs Armenian Apostolic Church of Orange County. The School shares the religious and national values cherished by the Armenian Apostolic Church of America. Ari Guiragos Minassian Armenian School is part of the Western Prelacy Armenian Schools, which seeks to promote bilingual education and cultural growth, especially in children of Armenian descent. The Western Prelacy Armenian Schools are comprised of eight schools throughout California and are governed by the Board of Regents located in Glendale, California. <a href="docs/MISSION_THE_ARMENIAN_PRELACY_SCHOOLS.pdf"><font color="#bc000f">Click here</font></a>, to read about the Mission of the Armenian Prelacy Schools.<br> <br> Ari Guiragos Minassian Armenian School has been accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) since 2005. Upon WASC s visit and evaluation during spring 2008, the School successfully completed the mid-term accreditation review, and was granted accreditation until 2011.<br> <br> Ari Guiragos Minassian Armenian School, accepts students without regard to race, color, creed, ethnic origin, or religious affiliation.<br> <br> <b><u>Promotion and Retention Policy</u></b><br> <br> Seven years of progress in seven chronological years, Kindergarten  6th grade, is the standard expectancy for students. Identification of primary students (K - 3rd grade), who are having difficulty in mastering basic skills, will be accomplished as early as possible during the primary grades. <br> <br> <b>Promotion:</b> <br> To be promoted to the next grade level students must meet the following criteria:<br> <br> a. Master the basic skills in all academic classes (both Armenian &amp; English).<br> b. Achieve an overall grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 by the end of the year.<br> c. Attend regularly at least 85% of school days, except in special circumstances.<br> d. Secure teachers recommendations for promotion.<br> <br> <b>Retention:</b><br> Retention is intended as a means for improving the student s potential success; not as a punitive measure. The following factors are considered, before a student is retained:<br> <br> a. Level of achievement (test scores, if applicable)<br> b. Chronological age<br> c. Physical, social, emotional factors<br> <br> Parents of students working below grade level in basic skills will be advised at each grading period.<br> A conference involving teachers, parents, and the principal will take place before students are retained. <br> <br> Final decision regarding promotion rests with the school Principal. <br> <br> <b><u>Discipline Policy</u></b><br> <br> Discipline is the training that develops character, self-control, orderliness, and efficiency. It is the key to good conduct and proper consideration for other people. The aim of our school's discipline policy is to help each student learn to take responsibility for his or her behavior.
